Well, the day is finally coming–we’ll start reading the Bible together this Friday, June 1st! And by the time we get to the end of August, we will have read through the entire Bible together.
I’m excited about this–I hope you are also. It isn’t just an opportunity to read the Bible; this is a sacred time when we together will learn our Story as people of faith, from Alpha to Omega, from Genesis to Revelation! If you haven’t signed up yet to let us know you’ll be reading along with us, then please let the office know–Josh wants to be praying for you this summer!
Each day this summer, you can come to this site for a reflection on the day’s reading. I’ll be writing the bulk of these, but some friends and guests may contribute from time to time. If you’d like to read a little ahead and share your thoughts on a particular passage, then let me know! If you prefer, sign up to get these by email by typing your address in the box to the left & clicking “Sign me up!”
If you don’t have a copy of the schedule, then click here to get the readings for the whole summer. You’ll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read this file; if you don’t have it, download a free copy. You’ll also find some useful notes on how to get the most out of your daily Bible reading.
Finally, we’ll be posting shortly the locations & times for the weekly discussion groups you can join. The fellowship, accountability, and information that’s shared during a weekly gathering is crucial to successfully reading the entire Bible. It’s a good way to build relationships with people you don’t know as well at Perritte, or to strengthen friendships you already have.
I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone is doing this Sunday, and sharing during the sermon about the first few days’ readings. Let the lectio divina (holy reading) begin!
